Been here for a year now and I’ve gotta say I’m impressed with the growth of this game! Loving the sprite redesigns so far (especially Marruk) and the music is top tier. The writing of the characters is also very well done and I’m looking forward to future updates. After what they’ve been through, Marruk and Tucker both need a hug and some vacation time that’s for sure.

Ah I thought it might’ve been a variation or something. I’m not great at distinguishing music

Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy

Well, it does have the romance tag, so I'd assume they'll have it eventually. I think the creator just wants to take things slow to really develop the characters and story before you get the option to romance them. Anyway, I'm 100% going for Marruk when the first romance type update comes out lmao

It was nice seeing more Rhoun content in this update, and getting new side characters added to that. Also, the soundtrack for this game fits very well with the Sci-fi aspect and space themes! I'm loving the new Music Hall feature so far.

These theories are so interesting. I just had to take a screenshot or two

I'm curious, what's your opinion on Roads Yet Traveled? I think this VN is pretty cool and the lore/storyline is very complex and unique. Marruk is my favorite character so far, but Rhoun is a close second. I don't typically go for the characters who are all friendly and kind right off the bat.

Honestly, I thought Adastra was fine. Yes, it became overly popular and obsessed over, but is it a horrible game? No. Echo will always be my top Echo Project VN because it was the first one, and I have the most nostalgia/emotion connected to it. I didn't explicitly say I want Vulgor to be a character option. All I suggested is that perhaps there should be someone else besides Ranok. It doesn't matter whatsoever to me if Vulgor is gay or straight or a boyfriend. In my opinion, Ranok is too full of himself, and it would be interesting if they added another route. Also, FBtW is not remotely fascinating or fun to play for me. The plot isn't anything special; the characters are mostly whiny or have certain qualities I particularly dislike. No one on here has claimed it's the worst game ever created, either. All people have stated is that they aren't fans of the creator for months and years of harassing people, a poorly written story, and several other factors. If you want to put the VN up to the same level as this one or games like RTF or Echo, you're free to. I, however, will not change my mind about FBtW any time soon, and I will not watch or play it. RYT, RTF, Echo, Burrows, Soul Creek, The Smoke Room, Minotaur Hotel, Lyre, Temptation's Ballad, In Case of Emergency, and countless others will forever exceed the likes of FBtW and that is my final verdict.

You're lucky you have a phone compatible with Itch, lol. Also, I think most people have sound in their dreams. Unless the dream doesn't have any dialogue or actions that would cause noise. I've never retained enough of my dreams to know much about what they sounded like, however. If you saw CryptidDog's Twitter, the new update might be out by later this month or early March! I finished Marruk's route a few days after it was released in January.

People were trashing on it because the creator's a transphobe and generally rude. Also, Ranok is too much like Amicus for my liking. I do feel that the VN would be better if there were more character options. The same thing kind of happened with the creator of "Lands of Fire" being manipulative and hurting other people. It's not necessarily the story for many of those hating on the game; it's supporting or providing any platform to a problematic and bigoted person.

Do you have a favorite character? In furry VNs, I always go for the one who seems abrasive and cold (Marruk here). Usually, the anger and tough persona came to be because of intensive stress or having had to put up with a lot in life. Eventually, they open up to the MC and become friends or even more. The romance aspect is nice to see because there isn't as much representation in mainstream media that resonates with me on the same level as these visual novels. I'm going with Marruk for my first play through; seeing as he's the type I usually pick, he's hot, and he seems to understand Tucker.

You put it better than I did in my first reply! I was just trying to summarize my thinking on what might've happened. Based on what their personalities are so far, what you're saying does make sense. If Marruk and Rhoun had a relationship together, it would most likely have ended similarly to that.

I've heard of Sihai's Legacy, but I'll be sure to add Heart Faster Than Light.

This has to be the longest thread I've seen on here. If you like horror games, you should try Burrows. RTF is a nice one for sure, and Soulcreek is interesting so far. I'm not too into the slice of life vns like After Class, Tennis Ace, or Socially Awkward, but those are also great titles if you want something less dramatic for a change. I have a spreadsheet with all the VNs I've played/found if anyone wants a more in-depth look at the different projects out there. There's been a huge uptick in them since Covid, and I'm here for it!

My theory is that Rhoun and Marruk are either exes or got into some sort of accident, and Marruk blames Rhoun for having his artificial eye. Marrow just has his heart because of a birth defect, not any mysterious backstory (I think). They all need their neural devices to speak to the protagonist, though. It's probably not a coincidence due to that. There are so many ways Marruk and Rhoun's backstories could turn out, so I'm waiting for the next few updates to learn more about them as characters.

The same is true for several other visual novels. I've always been into his type of character, as they're usually the most complex and really add to the storyline/plot. Let's hope that Marruk's arc isn't so different.

Marruk's my favorite character right now. I have a feeling there's more to his personality and backstory than his outwardly rude and closed-off disposition. After all, he's just trying to do what was instructed of him. He also shows hints of genuine kindness towards the MC, as well as being a fairly blunt Carain compared to Marrow. Rhoun is certainly more friendly and understanding than Marruk, thus I understand why people veer towards him. Even so, I'm less curious about his development in the story. I'll be doing both of their routes, though!

Very well put. Life rarely goes to plan, and no one really knows what will happen. The bittersweet conclusion doesn't force a happy ending or a tragic one, but one of uncertainty and room for the unknown. It's easy to long for unrealistic stories because stories themselves are often used to escape from the brutality of the real world.

Major Spoilers:

That's the moral of In Case of Emergency.  Peregrine seduces the characters with its promises of adventure and freedom, but in reality, it's a shackle holding them to a false world. Escapism can be enticing to those who need it most, but it's never as pure as it makes itself out to be. In the end, they all realize that it's foolish to abandon reality for superficial happiness.

You never know what happens to the characters, just as you never know what tomorrow may bring. I've played through every path, every story in this game. There's a sort of peace at the end of each so-called "good ending". Although we will never know what becomes of Luke, Cedric, Wesley, Remus, or Kieran, it's a pleasant thought that maybe, just maybe, things will be alright.

Like you said, life will always have many differing paths and conclusions. Not everything will end in happiness or love, and more times than not, it won't. It would be naive of me to see the world in black and white. Remus was not evil for doing what he did,  nor was he a savior or hero of any sort. He was a complicated old man who lived a life of fantasy for so long that he had forgotten the truth.

All of them learn different life lessons at the end of their paths. Wesley realizes that he can't keep living his life for others, not allowing himself to make any decisions for himself or be free. Cedric learns to let go of all the ideals and meanings he tries to force himself to conform to. Luke discovers that not everything in life will have a solution or some sort of magic to repair it. Sometimes you just have to go with things and live in the moment.

Anyway, I know I probably seem insane for taking the time to write this much, but I enjoy to have discussions like this with people. Some of the best conversations to be had are with those you'll most likely never see or know. Thank you for taking the time to read this, your willingness to converse with people in such detail is admirable.

Apologies if this spoils anything for someone

A bittersweet ending is more realistic to how life is...that's why it hurts. Perhaps Kieran and Cedric will meet again someday and move in together; maybe later they'll even get married. The future is up to your imagination

Did you get to his good ending? It's a lot less painful

To get romance, click the choices with hearts for the character you want. To get friendship, pick choices that the character you choice will like

Spoilers:

Choose to talk to Cedric instead of fighting him, and don't choose the "did you?" choice when talking to him by the campfire if you want his  good ending.

If you don't get to know Luke, Cedric, or Wes, you'll end up with Remus. Remus has romance and friendship options as well but he always refuses to go back to the real world with the mc (Kieran). Luke has no romance ending.

After playing every ending of every character, all CGs will be shown in the gallery.

When you're talking to him by the campfire, make sure not to choose the "did you?" choice.
